Flagstaff Hill Dave Potter Honda Pro Am

2016 date - Wednesday 20th April

The Pro Am provides an annual opportunity to display our course and club to local, interstate and international professionals aswell as a wide range of sponsors, members and visitors.

The FHGC Pro Am has run for over a decade in it's current format and well known names are associated with the event: Nick O'Hern (two time winner), Euan Walters, and Alistair Presnell.

We could not hold the event without the support of our valued sponsors, many of whom have had a long term involvement.  We are particularly grateful to Chris Potter and the support of Dave Potter Honda as our naming rights sponsor.

The last 10 years have seen record numbers take to the field and many new sponsors welcomed on board.

In 2014 & 2015 The FHGC Dave Potter Honda ProAM was winner of the SA Golf Industry PGA award for the Best SA Pro Am as voted for by the PGA competitors.  The Club, sponsors and members are very proud of this award and continue to work hard to provide the same quality event each and every year.

2012 Amateur & Sponsors Results

2015 Summary

FHGC hosted the 2015 Dave Potter Honda Pro Am on Wednesday 15th April.  A field of 30 PGA Professionals joined with amateurs and sponsors to enjoy a fantastic day of golf and presentation dinner to follow.  There was plenty of interesting golf to discuss over dinner and some great scores to celebrate.  The PGA title was shared by Peter Cooke and Jason Norris, each returning impressive 7 under par scores of 65!  The leading amateur was Martin Rees and the winner of the Titleist Putter Raffle was Leigh Schreier.  Many thanks are extended to Chris & Pauline Potter for their fantastic support of this event for over 20 years and to all of our sponsors, without which the event could not be held.  The organising committee of Ian McDonnell and John Anderson once again provided an event without any hiccups and the entourage of volunteers made sure the event went smoothly.  Well done and thanks to all.

A BIG thank you to Chris & Pauline Potter of Dave Potter Motors and ALL the other sponsor participants & volunteers of the day.  This great event could not be held without your support.

The magnificently conditioned Flagstaff Hill was the final event of the South Australian swing of the Southern Tour which was in keeping with the outstanding condition of the courses throughout the seven events.

The greens which were firm, fast and very true ensured that good putting would be rewarded and low scoring would be the result.

Kris Mueck continued his great form and led the morning field with a solid three under 69 that would unfortunately not be good enough by the end of the day but again proved that he is a player to watch out for.

Four players from the afternoon field matched Mueck's morning round with David Bransdon, Jason Norris, Tim Elliott and Mitchell Brown all showing their class and recent solid form to finish in a five way tie for third. In outright second place was the winner of the SA Corporate Cup at North Adelaide last week, Kurt Carlson. Carlson shot a score of 68 and was the leader until his travelling partner for the past 9 days in Steve Jones came in with a score of 65 to blow the field away.

Jones round included 8 birdies and the solitary bogie in what was described as an awesome round of golf by one of his amateur playing partners.

"I got of to a great start with three straight birdies and then another on my 6th hole. From there it was just a matter of trying to pick up some birdies at the remaining par 5's as I still had four of them to play. Thankfully I managed birdies on all of them and am very happy to win today. The greens were amazing and we have been really lucky with the course conditions over the past week or so? Jones said

Peter Cooke with his round of 70 today has become the unofficial winner of the South Australian Order of Merit and has a three point lead over both David Bransdon and Clint Rice. The official season will run until the end of October and with the possibility of more events before then, Cooke will need to wait and see if he is to become the eventual OOM winner.
